My Tour Poster

Reflection:

This is my moodboard of jazz tour posters. I did this to give me ideas on how I should structure my poster, using particular font sizes and bright colours. For instance in the jazz tour posters you can see how the use of bright colours fits the theme of jazz and captivates the audience. They also use large font sizes to make it stand out which make thier audience want to read on and also curley font which gives a more old-fashioned, classy feel which is in keeping with the era of jazz. Also it is common to see in tour posters a man typically playing the saxophone while striking a pose, which is a stereoptypical jazz image. This connotes how enthusiastic they are when playing the instruments which exemplfies how fun and excitng the tour will be, making their target audience more inclined to go to the tour.

Feedback on the Brief
  • Does it fulfil the brief as stated in the blog?
Your comment: yes it does fulfil the brief
Feedback on colours:
  • Has the design used a consistent colour scheme?
  • Is there a relationship between the colours in the image and the colour of the graphic design?
  • Do the colours seem typical of the genre?
Your comment: yes my design does use a consistant colour scheme which is signified with bright colours as that is typically found in jazz for instance with the orange and yellow to make it stand out. Both the graphic design and the image both use bright colours. Jazz is typically signified with bright colours which is why I used it in my tour poster.

Feedback on typeface:
  • Is all the text legible?
  • Is the typeface well chosen and does it suit the apparent genre?
  • How many typefaces are used in the design?
Your comment: I made sure the text was legible so I didn’t keep the font the same colour. This is because if I used a similar colour font I was using for my background it would not stand out as well. I changed it to white to make it more legible and to have a high contrast making it eye catching. I used mainly 2 typefaces, one which was a large bold type to grab the attention and one which was more curley which I felt was in keeping with the jazz theme with a more old -fashioned and classy look to it.
Feedback on integration of image and graphics
  • Does the text wrap around the image well?
  • Does the eyeline of the model focus attention?
Your comment: yes it does wrap around the image well, because all my text is in a good position, which isn’t covering too much of the main attraction on the poster. The eyeline of the model doesn’t really focus attention.
Feedback on image
  • Does the costume reflect a particular genre?
  • Is the body language of the model appropriate?
Your comment: yes my costume fits the genre of jazz because that is what jazz muscians would typically wear. The body language is also appropriate for the theme of jazz because it connotes how enthusiastic he is about playing the saxiphone which will make the target audience excited to watch him live.
Feedback on copy
  • Do the words on the page prompt a sense of desire?
  • Is there a clear call and a route to action? (AIDA)
Your comment: yes it makes my target audience want to go to the world tour. It provides them with all the information they would need to book tickets.

Yes as it does interest the target audience with the vibrant colours which will attract them and clear instructions on where to buy tickets and how much they cost.
Feedback on connotations
  • What messages and ideas are being communicated in the text?
  • Do those messages and ideas seem appropriate to the genre and purpose of the text?
Your comment: the message is clear to who its targeting and also with the timings and where the world tour will take place. It also seems appropriate to the genre with the fonts being in a bright colour.

This is my tour poster I made on indesign and photoshop. This will help me with designing my magazine, as it has given me a clear understanding on how to use photoshop. For instance I have learnt how to change the size of my model and to cut it to fit the image I want. This will therefore lead to the outcome I want for making my tour poster and use that to develop my magazine.
