Embedded video –

Self-assessment –

I think that our music video draft 1 has a wide range of locations and bright mise-en-scene which makes the video more conventional to the pop genre. The lipsyncing works with the editing and the variety of shots and angles add energy to the video with the constant changes of the shots.

I think the editing to the beat worked and adds to the RnB genre. The lighting in the white room worked which accentuates the makeup and the bright mise-en-scene. However, I felt the wind and the hairstyle used for the star with the blue background at the recycling centre looked untidy and out of place.

Targets for improvement –

  • Targets could look at adding more filters and effects to engage the audience and make the video stand out from others.
  • This could include changing the colour of the blue background so that it creates a disco changing colour compared to the star. This would convey a quirky upbeat pop star image.
  • We could also make sure that when doing our narrative that we have more of a range of shots the whole way through and not just doing it to parts of the song.
  • This could be more close-ups, dolly and panning shots. Also, make sure there are no scrunchies and hairbands on the wrists as it takes away from the star and the main action.
