SOCIAL MEDIA PAGE DRAFT 1

Below is Draft 1 of the SMP. We have so far created 8 posts in which we plan to develop his star image further.

In order to showcase all conventions of a Rap/ R&B artist we must use a dark and grungy theme with bold text and a similar font each post. In order to easily engage with our audience we create subtle and ‘easy to read’ captions. We have made our star look relatively ordinary as it correlates with Dyers theory, meaning he can create a shared relationship between the audience and the star.

Targets for Improvement:

  • Include Gifs and Videos to give the audience an insight into future content
  • integrate more conventions from the Digipak and Music Video to match the style and make it a collective
  • Interact with the audience by showcasing
  • Include more cross media convergence with other stars, i.e TV and Radio interviews, computer games and collaborate with other musicians.

SOCIAL MEDIA PAGE TERMINOLOGY

By delving deep into examples of what a successful media page should look like has helped me to understand how to gain a following and a strong, connected audience. We looked at what language they use, what kind of photos  and trends attract attention and what sort of information is useful to the audience. The biography in any social media account is crucial as it acts as the first opinion of any visitor. By researching artists of the same genre has helped and given an understanding of what a social media account should look like, what we should include to engage with and interest an audience.

This peer feedback has been extremely useful. By identifying what genre they think my digipak in has given me confidence as i know i am in the right direction and with a some slight adjustments we can make sure that everyone can identify what genre this is.

DIGIPAK DRAFT 1

Here is draft 1 of our Digipak, together we have collated and planned how to make our Digipak stand out. We have reviewed current album covers and discovered what works well within our genre. With this we have set out and created a dark grungy style of album that correlates well with the targeted audience and will gain interest from other genre parties.

In order to create a different but original piece we have focused on Mis En Scene and how we can capture the attention of the audience. We have done this by using chains and tape to give that grungy feel and emphasis that the artist feels imprisoned within the industry and unnoticed but ultimately ‘Undiscovered’.

What to improve / Targets:

  • We need to add a subtle colour that will make our Digipak stand out instead of looking like every other in this genre.
  • We need to use a unique font that completely encapsulates and represents our brand like no other.
  • We need to make more obvious edits in photoshop to ensure that everything looks similar and has a distinctive design that our targeted audience will clearly notice.
  • We need to ensure that all the text looks clean and isn’t diagonal on the back pane.

MARKETING TIMELINE AND STRATEGY

Every excellent marketing campaign includes teasers, launch dates and interactive experiences. This is crucial when trying to create a product for a targeted audience. By creating a timeline I can reference from throughout my social media page that i can reference from. I have followed a similar trend of the examples below, each of them using Guerilla marketing in their favour to produce a successful marketing campaign that can kick start any career.

For example M Huncho collaborated with some of the UK’s favourite personalities. The likes of Gasworks and Chicken shop dates created a following on a different platform in which ended up benefitting both sides of the collaborations. With this M Huncho was able to create a new following from Gasworks who simply sat and created a podcast where the hosts Poet and Al han were able to interview M Huncho and receive honest answers about new music and his life experiences, where he grew up and what he used to dream of being. This kind of transparency is what I hope for my star, where he can collaborate and create a greater following and offer important information in which the audience can react and reinforce.

Whilst preparing for the release of my social media page, I have made a timeline through Padlet with the contents that i will need to post in order to create an attraction and attention. Whilst creating this I considered AIDA and how I can use it to create a social interaction between myself and my audience.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT – THE PACKAGE BRAND

The Mission Statement and Marketing Strategy is crucial when trying to understand who your audience is. This slideshow focuses on what sort of brand we are and how we can promote our genre as something unique and distinctive. We learnt who are demographic is and how we promote our style to our audience. With this we were also able to identify who are competition and what their unique selling points are and how we can overcome them.

This has been extremely useful for gaining the understanding of our audience, who are competition will be and how we can create a product that generates positive interest. This now helps us to create an idea of what we want our digipak to look like and this will be a point of reference through out the design process.

THE LOOK BOOK – THE BRANDING PACKAGE

Made with Padlet

By creating a Padlet we have been able to review and inform ourselves on how we might be able to create an album cover that is relevant to our genre and matches the themes of the rest but with a twist. By collecting cover art from similar artists we have been able to start designing and creating a rough idea of how it might look, what colours we might use and how we can lay out the text. By reviewing each image, we have been able to identify what works well for artists of a similar theme and therefore being able to have resource that we can always use for ideas that can represent the brand.
