Draft Feature Article

This is my first draft for my double page spread article:

Chloe Peel is a 17 year old singer songwriter from a tiny island called Guernsey. She first rose to fame a few months ago overnight when a video of her singing an original song went viral on the social media app, TikTok. Her brand new album has now got 1 million spotify streams, in less than a week!

This weekend, I took a trip to Chloe Peels studio apartment in the city centre of london. She invited me in, offered me a coffee, and we began to talk. Peel says that growing up she was always ‘teased and bullied’ for her passion to sing, she felt embarrassed to join her school choir or even sign up to talent shows in fear of getting picked on. However, as soon as she shut her bedroom door, she became the star she dreamed of being. At just 15 years old, Chloe joined the extremely popular short video app; tiktok. In about a year her anonymous account had gained almost 50 thousand followers by posting videos of her original songs, until overnight, one blew up. In a matter of hours Chloe’s tiktok account had two million followers and her emails were filled with music producers and managers wanting to work with her. After a few meetings with said producers and managers, Peel and her team began writing and creating her first ever album. The album is inspired by a recent split from Chloe’s childhood sweetheart that left her ‘heartbroken,’ her method in writing was to ‘put all emotions down on the paper,’ Peel said this helped her create her art as well as get over the sad breakup. Her family and friends were her biggest supporters during her heartbreak and rise to fame, when asked what she will be doing with her new found fortune, Peel replied ‘I will spoil my mum rotten.’ Chloe’s biggest musical inspirations feature artists like Rihanna and SZA as she loves their ‘vibe’ as well as their music. At only 17 years old, Chloe and her music has become a sensation.  After a few months of creating, within a week of the final album dropping on spotify, it had almost a million streams, while Chloe’s instagram page has received over four million followers. Over it! is currently at spot three on the top 40 charts and with no doubt will continue to grow. Chloe’s message to teenagers across the country is ‘to not give up due to embarrassment or other people’s opinions, if you enjoy a hobby, why give it up? It may become more than a hobby one day.’ Us at PopWomen believe that Chloe Peel is going to go a lot further in these next few years or even months. The future is bright for this young pop star and I’m sure she can inspire many more young people to follow their dreams.

In next week’s article, we’ll see how far over it! has gotten in the UK’s charts, and how Chloe is handling her new found popularity. Will she hit number one? Will her name be one of the many released grammy nominees? Has the inspiration of the album been in contact?

This is my recording of my first draft, I recored it so it is easy to see any mistakes that may need changing.

This is my final and edited draft for my double page spread article on my cover star:
