My Media Diet

Being a teenager, I am a consumer of media as I read, watch and listen to all types of media types, however I am also a prosumer of media as I post comments, photos or reviews onto online media. Therefore I have a large range in my media diet.

Based off Blumler and Katz’ uses and gratification theory, I have made a collage of my most used media text and indicated which media I use for my entertainment, personal identity, social interaction and education/information.

This outlines my knowledge on how different types of media has different uses to people. In the future, I can use this piece of work to help me include specific uses and gratifications in my own media texts. Now I know that when I produce my own magazine I need to be sure to include certain aspects so that my audience/consumers have the opportunity to be informed, entertained and impact their personal identity and social interaction.
