Production Meeting Agenda

In order for our music video shoot on the 21st to be succesful we created a production meeting agenda to ensure everybody knows what we are doing, what they need to bring and where they are going. By doing this we can make sure that everyone is on the same page with our shoot and ensure we can borrow required equipment from various different places.

Risk Assessment

In order for us to be able to go out of school to do our performance shot on the 21st we had to create a risk assessment sheet. This risk assessment shows and ensures we have thought carefully and sensibly of the dangers around our location, props and other objects or factors we come across. We need to minimise or eliminate these risks to ensure the safety of our group and the public in the area.

Star Image- The Performer

This is our concept board for our artists, we found new and old healines of them and their perosonal lives as well as theier new upcoming albums, song and EP’s. We also found images in the articles we read and researched also tweets and over arching facts about them. While we were reading these articles we came up with ideas and lists of what the stars were bing potrayed as such as adjectives and adverbs for them such as ‘upbeat’ and ‘energetic’.

For our music video we want our star to be potrayed simular but also make our star stand out and convey the modern day conventions of a indie music band. We were talking about adding a more modern and pop star look to the indie pop genre of music. This will add a modern and new look to our star casing them to be attractive and convey all the key conventions for the target audience we are aiming for.

Our star we would like to be represented as a modern day chilled out teenager with style as well as a mann with mental health issues howerver we would not like this to be his master status and all everyone can see about him as we don’t want the music video to be heavy with his mental health issues.

This will help us to create a succesful and easy to follow production plan for next week wehn we have our perfromance shoot.

Conventional Shots and Narratives for my genre

Made with Padlet

To exlore and show the correct conventions and connotations of the key filming conventions and performance style for our indie-pop genre we have created a Padlet with gifs and other images. These images are from a music video similar to our song choice in order to pick up on things we need to include in ours such as a variety of camera angles.

By using a variety of camera shots and angles you gain a higher mark fro cinematography and create an interesting an dinclusive music video for multiple target audiences. By using a repertoire of elements from this music video we will gain a higher mark and won’t mislead our target audience as we are giving them what they are expecting and not misleading them in anyway.

The editing in this music video was similar to how we would like ours in a organised chaotic way with the oace of edit speeding up and slowing down in various parts of the music video. In the music video we studies we studied how they potrayed the star image in various shots and clips in the edit adn video.

This will help us with our narrative overview as it will help us convey the story and have all the correct conventions into the msuic video in order to display our narrative. This narrative is conventional for our genre as it is simple and realistic as well as it will belnd with the song and become a succesful music video. Linear narratives are more popular in our genre however in roder for us to be different we arent going to use a linear narrative as we want our music video to be viewed as much as possible. Having a linear narrative can cause for the audience only viewing the video once as they know what will happen.

This activity will be helpful for the Lip Sync task we have been assigned next week as well as completing our Creative Critical Response Essay at the end of the unit.

Permission From Artist

In order to be able to use the artists music we had to send them a message to ask if we could. We said that we would like to use their song for educational purposes.

This is due to copyright issues we may come across if we had forgotten to do this important step. This shows we are aware of copyright issues and care about our music video not being removed due to illegal use.

Perfect Production Group

In order to make sure that our group stays as a group without any disagreements or arguments we have made an agreement between us that states that we will resolve any issue like adults and make sure that we are doing the best outcome for our video.

This will help us while collabarating as will ensure that nobody in our group is left out or is doing less work then others. This sheet also states our strengths and weaknesses amoung the group whihc we will take into account while also making sure we are using everybody in the best way and everyway.

Final Song Choice

As a group we decided to restart and do a new song as neither of our pitches stood out to us, we have decided to do the ‘Best Day Of My Life’ by American Authors. This song as you can tell from our word cloud is:

  • joyful
  • fun
  • happy
  • gives off summer vibes

This song will be succesful with our narrative as it isn’t a new song so their isnt a false sense of hope that the audience will be expecting.

Final Pitch To Teacher

We presented this idea to our teacher to get feedback on our narrative and to enhance our ideas. The video I have embedded below:

In order to make sure my groups initial ideas for our shoots and overall music video are realistic and conventional for our genre and song choice we had a meeting and infromal chat with our teacher to make sure we are aloung the right lines.

Here are 6 positives that came out of our teachers pitch:

  • Our idea is doable and realistic
  • We have locations in mind that our teacher approves of
  • Good costumes
  • Narrative is simple and easy to understand/execute
  • We have thought about everything carefully
  • We are aware of the camera angles that will work well

Here are 6 improvements or things to think about that came out of our teachers pitch:

  • Need to think about who will be in the performance
  • Make sure everyone is credited for everything
  • Think about how busy the location shoots will be
  • We have to execute the shorts well so they are not boring
  • Find actors that connote our narrative
  • Use MES carefully in every scene

This meeting was helpful for us to gain an understanding of how to represent and choose costumes and mes for our star image and other actors costuming. This also opened our eyes to new settings for our performances and narratives.

Overall this meeting and conversation helped us gain new ideas and also realise the reality of our talent and how much we can do in the short time period we have until the performance shoot.
