Design skills 2

We learnt many new ways to improve our music video with some new techniques snd tools and fix mistakes when we searched around premier pro.

For example, we have discovered how to reverse clips to help include flashbacks in our music video:

How to Speed Up or Reverse a Clip in Premiere Pro

We have also learnt how to position our models off centre of the screen or centre, so we can move our models wherever we think suits the clip and part of the song, this tool came in handy because we ended up filming almost everything on our iPhones so the scale was a bit off:

Use Motion effect to edit and animate clips

These help to communicate the star image, we have included and used these tools and design skills because they bring out the best possible version of our star and our genre, pop.  The flashbacks help the conveyance of the narrative in terms of memories over their summer holidays

Video Narrative Story/Shot sheets

To prepare for our shoot, we have planned our scenes and a compiled a visual shot list (via a storyboard).  This will be helpful to follow when we go out on our shoot so that we feel well prepared and our shoot can run without many issues or problems.  Our storyboard isn’t really in order, but this doesn’t matter because the scenes come in as they interlink.

Narrative Development

The narrative can be any one of the following:

  • Amplified – The video links to the key themes and messages of the lyrics and aids them.
  • Disjunctive – The video and lyrics have very little to do with each other.
  • Illustrative – The narrative illustrates the lyrics directly.

Since we have decided to have an illustrative in our music video, it means that the video makes sense and goes well with the lyrics.  So we have chosen to film and create a stereotypical summer with all the sunsets and great memories that the two models had.

We will either start at the end and include flashbacks of summer or start at the start of summer and go through and experience the great days that pass.  The narrative involves looking back on summer memories and all the fun they had with their friends separately and then together right at the end of the video.
